Like all of the best things in life, Frette wasn't born in a day. Behind every thread of the company's luxurious linens and housewares lie 150 years of history that place its products in a class of their own.
This prestigious Italian linen house started out in the 1850s when the company's French founder, Edmond Frette, formed a "firm for the trading and marketing of fabrics" in Grenoble, France. In the 1860s, Frette and his partners moved to Northern Italy - to be closer to the best artisans and mills. But before long, the company had founded its own weaving plant at Concorezzo, near Milan, from which it still creates many of its artisan-finished products today.
Outstanding craftsmanship and excellence set Frette's products apart from the start.
In the 1880s, the company's finely woven linens attracted the attention of royalty - including Queen Margherita of Savoy. Soon, commissions rolled in from Europe's leading noble families - among them, the Torlonias, Borgheses and Viscontis in Italy and the Afan de Riveras, Ageciras and de Asartas in Spain. Top hotels - from Venice's Danieli and Paris' George V to London's Savoy - also ordered bed and table linens from Frette and even the Vatican fell under the spell.
And yet there is nothing old fashioned about Frette's designs today. The Frette Hotel Collection works seamlessly in interiors from classic to modern.
History. Heritage. Modernity. There is something special about Frette.
